Today, I want to talk about a serious issue: Instagram scams. Scammers use Instagram to trick people into giving them money or personal information. They come out of nowhere, try to manipulate you, and if they succeed or fail, they block you or delete their Instagram ID. Here are some real examples:

Here are a few screenshots where a scammer is trying hard to force me to give Rs 1700. In return, he is claiming that I will make around Rs 20,800. This is totally unrealistic, but innocent people may easily get scammed:

How to Recognize Instagram Scams

Unsolicited Messages: Be cautious if you get a message from someone you don’t know. Scammers often send messages to many people at once.
Too Good to Be True Offers: If someone promises you money, gifts, or any other benefits for little to no effort, it’s probably a scam. Scammers use these tactics to lure you in.
Requests for Personal Information: Be wary if the person asks for personal details like your bank information, passwords, or identification. Legitimate entities don’t ask for such information through Instagram messages.
Urgency and Pressure: Scammers often create a sense of urgency to pressure you into making hasty decisions. Take your time and verify the information before taking any action.

What to Do If You Encounter a Scam

Don’t Respond: If you get a suspicious message, don’t reply or provide any personal information.
Report the Account: Report the scammer to Instagram. This helps protect others from falling victim to the same scam.
Block the Scammer: Block the account to prevent further contact and potential manipulation.
